To Disney Resort? or not to Disney Resort? …..
That is the question
I have always wondered if the Disney Hotels were worth the extra cost as opposed to the Good Neighbor Hotels around the Disney Parks. I mean we’re a family, a gluten free family, and we all know that lifestyle can get expensive. We need to save our hard-earned money, right? Right!
So, as with every trip we go on, I started researching. Number 1 always….What gluten free food was available? I kept finding myself being pulled back again and again to the Disneyland Hotel. I loved the convenience. A quick monorail trip right into Tomorrow Land. And best of all, the gluten free options were enormous!
Bonus, the pool looked like a dream come true for our kids.
We decided to take the plunge. After all if you’re going to go to Disneyland, why not take in the whole experience?!?
Hi Ho! Hi Ho! It’s off to Disneyland We Go…..
Was it worth it? Um, YES!! From the moment we were picked up at the airport from the Disney Express, we were caught up in the Disney Fantasy. Upon arrival at the Disneyland Hotel, everyone greeted us as if they had spent their whole day just waiting in anticipation for our little princesses to arrive. They were both super excited when they each were given their own “Key to the Magic Card,” a card that they still proudly keep.
What is a Key to the Magic Card? First of all, it is your room key and identifies you as a guest of Disney Resorts. But it gets better….For mom and dad, you can connect it to your credit card and use it to pay for all your Disney related expenses….Food in Disneyland and California Adventures, shopping in the Parks, Disney stores in Downtown Disney. One card, one bill. It definitely simplifies things.
And the Disney Fantasy Continues….
After a very easy check-in, we were off to see our Disneyland Hotel “home” for the weekend. We were given an incredible room on the top floor of Frontier Tower overlooking Disney’s California Adventure Park.
Let me just say, Disney has got the details figured out. The room was above and beyond, one of the coolest rooms we had ever stayed in. Little Disney touches everywhere. One of the highlights?… This headboard….
Not only was it beautiful all by itself, it also lit up with fireworks and played music. It was amazing to say the least! The rest of our room was equally amazing….
Those beds were crazy comfy. They were a perfect place to land after a long day of walking and playing in the parks. A perfect place to dream of princesses and princes, of talking mice and flying pirate ships. A perfect place to be awoken from those stardust dreams by ….Mickey Mouse himself!! The girls loved their morning wake up call every morning from Mickey telling them he couldn’t wait to see them that day. They couldn’t get over it….It was M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E!! calling them!!! It was pretty awesome as a parent to see their excitement, only soon to be followed by even more excitement…..
A Gluten Free Kid’s Dream…
Yes, that is a giant stack of gluten free pancakes!! I wish I had a picture of their faces when they removed the lid off the plate expecting one or two small pancakes, only to find a HUGE stack of delicious pancakes. Pancakes with berries, banana foster, or maple syrup. A perfect breakfast for a big day of playing Disney Style.
The hotel offers room service where you write down what you want for breakfast the following day. Then you simply hang your order on your door for them to pick up the night before. They deliver an amazing, hot breakfast at whatever time you specify. The kitchen staff is super conscientious about food allergies/sensitivities. They even called me just to be sure they knew exactly how to prepare our food so we wouldn’t get sick. I was one happy mama with two happy kiddos. We were stuffed and ready to play.
